About us
At VRIJDAG, we believe that everyone should have access to art and culture. As the home of amateur arts in Groningen, we offer workshops, courses, and lessons in music, theater, and visual arts across the municipality.
Also, through VRIJDAG Onderwijs, we also provide cultural education both during and after school hours. And our culture coaches from VRIJDAG in de Buurt bring art and culture to neighborhoods across the city, while our Open Studios offer accessible spaces where young people can develop creatively, personally, and socially.
With KultuurLoket, we support amateur arts throughout the province with advice and resources, and through POPgroningen, we promote and stimulate local pop music talent.

Our locations
Walstraat
Walstraat 34 is the home of visual arts, where all studios and workshops are located. This is also where exhibitions are organized.
Noorderbuitensingel
Noorderbuitensingel 11 is the home location of theatre. This is where our theatre courses are given and where performances are organised.
Akkerstraat
Until the end of 2026, the Studio at Akkerstraat 99 is our temporary main location for all music lessons and performances.
Sint Jansstraat
A brand-new VRIJDAG building is currently being developed at Sint Jansstraat 7. This location is closed until the end of 2026.
