What is the relationship between Photography and Printmaking? In this course we will guide you through both worlds.
We will begin with making printplates from photocopies, learning how to translate the photographic image, etch and print a plate. From this experience we will progress into transferring a positive to a printing plate and developing it just as a analogue photograph. The result, after printing, is a somewhat rough but dreamlike print on paper.
It takes time, and there is a lot of room for experiment along the way. This is not a quick and easy way to make print, but a more poetic journey where the pleasure in making & discovering together is what makes it a great course! And it will definitely result in some surprising works of art.
This course will be taught in both English and Dutch.
