The Waldhorn is a brass wind instrument with a full sound and an impressive appearance. But it has not always been this way. Originally, the horn was made from the horns of an animal. These horns were nothing more than a tube that could produce only one sound. This gave the horn a strong signalling function that was used in the Middle Ages on hunts and in the army. Around 1815, the instrument got valves, allowing you to play melodies with it. Nowadays, the horn is mainly used in orchestras, but also as a solo instrument.
At VRIJDAG you can take horn lessons on your own or in groups. You will be taught by an experienced teacher who regularly plays the horn in performances and concerts. You will learn the intricacies of horn playing from real musicians! There are horn lessons for all ages and levels. And whether you choose individual horn lessons or want to play in an orchestra, there is always a course for you.
VRIJDAG has many bands, ensembles, choirs and orchestras you can join with your horn. Making music together with others is not only very sociable, but also educational. You are challenged to listen to each other and to dare to play solo. Don't have your own horn? Then you can hire one from us. Wondering if it is something for you? The first lesson is without obligation. You can cancel free of charge within three days of your first lesson. This does not apply to short courses (≤8 lessons).
