The saxophone was originally invented as a classical instrument, but nowadays it is used in all styles of music. You will find the saxophone mainly in jazz and pop, but you will also sometimes hear it in dance music. The instrument lends itself perfectly to solos, but also as part of (wind) orchestras, such as a brass band or big band. Moreover, it is a suitable instrument to start playing at any age. Can you see yourself giving a ripping solo?
At VRIJDAG you can take saxophone lessons on your own or in a group. You will be taught by an experienced teacher who regularly plays his or her saxophone in performances and concerts. So you learn the intricacies of saxophone playing from real performing musicians! There are saxophone lessons for all ages and all levels. And whether you choose individual saxophone lessons or want to play in a saxophone band; there is always a course for you.
Within VRIJDAG there are many bands, ensembles, choirs and orchestras you can join with your saxophone. Making music together with others is not only very sociable, but also educational. You are challenged to listen to each other and to dare to play solo. Don't have your own saxophone? Then you can hire one from us. Wondering if it is something for you? The first lesson is without obligation. You can cancel free of charge within three days of your first lesson. This does not apply to short courses (≤8 lessons).
